If you look at my Weibo, you will know that I was always confused about the public relations strategies of Zheng Shuang and Kris Wu. I always criticized the fact that the crisis lasted for such a long time. Why didn't they cut their losses? Even if they didn't cut their losses at the previous critical point, they should have done so at the next one. It's never too late to cut losses, even though the losses will be greater the longer you wait.
Of course, I understand the reasons behind this. They didn't have the awareness to cut their losses. They always believed that the crisis they faced was caused by challenges from certain individuals, without realizing that their crisis actually came from a more dangerous place. They couldn't see the consequences of their actions or what kind of world they were facing.
To understand why this is the case, let's put ourselves in their shoes. The entertainment industry is a steep pyramid structure, and they are at the top of the domestic entertainment industry. It's easy for them to feel like they have a sense of destiny. Since they have achieved success step by step and reached this point, they believe they won't fail. They also dislike any loss of interests or reputation.
Take Zheng Shuang as an example. She was born in Northeast China, an area known for heavy industry. It is the region with the most comprehensive art education coverage in the country, except for a few major cities. This also explains why there are so many entertainers from Northeast China.
Then, driven by the expectations of their parents, their appearance, talent, and luck, as well as what they believe to be their own choices and efforts, they gradually reached the top of the pyramid, surrounded by people who praised and flattered them. Just think about it, many parents would post on social media when their children achieve first place in an exam to receive praise from others, let alone them. They naturally extrapolate linearly, thinking that since they have succeeded in the past and have reached this level of success, they won't fail in the future.
When someone threatens their future, their mindset is that this person is jealous or trying to extort money from them, and they must not let them succeed. Their perspective is so limited. They and their parents are not particularly stupid, but rather similar to most people in China. But if you are so mediocre and lack understanding of the world, how can you stably stand at the top of the pyramid?
They don't understand that this world is full of cause and effect, with disasters and thunderstorms everywhere. Any mistakes or negligence you make will lead to irreversible consequences. If they just open their eyes and look at the successful people with names and reputations over the past thirty years, they would see what kind of fate awaits them.
Past success cannot guarantee future success. In a card game, if you win every hand and put all your winnings on the table, you will lose everything with just one loss. For ordinary people, if you invest in stocks, don't put all your money into one stock, and definitely don't use leverage. If you see a gray rhino, follow Murphy's Law - what is meant to happen will happen, don't rely on luck.
When things are going well, people often attribute it to their own luck and efforts, but they fail to understand that the most important factor is the favorable wind. This cycle of ups and downs is so long that many people fail to recognize its existence, such as the reforms and real estate market. The entertainment industry is also facing a strong headwind now, and it's already difficult for newcomers to make a name for themselves.
For ordinary people, being able to see the direction of the wind and avoid risks is not an easy task. This world doesn't care about individual success or failure.
